TORONTO STAR – MARCH 30, 2012
Canadian-born electropop star LIGHTS has always been known for her hard work ethic – but this might be taking it to a new level for her.
The Juno award winning artist has stated that she has already been working on the sequel to her latest album ‘Siberia’, which came out this past October, and is planning for a Fall 2012 release date. “LIGHTSarmy has grown so much since I started out, their passion and listening to their stories about how my music effects them really fuels me in pushing my work to new limits.” The Timmins-born artist told The Star, “I figured this would be a small way to show them my appreciation. I have received alot of praise for Siberia, and hope to do the same with my next album.” When LIGHTS approached manager Jian Ghomeshi with the idea, he tells The Star he was not surprised. “Her work ethic and determination is like no other. She loves what she does, and she loves her fans. If anyone in the music industry is capable of doing something like this, it’s LIGHTS.”
Her work ethic throughout the years has certainly paid off. It has created her own following of fans over the years known affectionately as ‘LIGHTSarmy.’ “They’re amazing! They’ve always been so supportive and I don’t know where I would be without them.” LIGHTS said. One of the members of LIGHTSarmy, a member since 2009 ‘Mike2025’ shared his thoughts with The Star on the new album. “I think it’s amazing! LIGHTS has always been so inspiring for a lot of people, this isn’t something she had to do, her fans love her regardless of how many albums she releases. And personally, I think it’s a great way to April Fool some people. You mad, bros? ;troll.” The rest of LIGHTSarmy was too trolled and in disbelief to comment on the album.
