The phenomenon I speak of is Mainland China recording artist, Zhou Bichang – Bibi or any of its variations (Bibi Chou, Bibi Zhou, Bibi Chow) when her fans and others refer to her. For those who are unfamiliar with her, she is the most brilliant musical talent you may have never heard of. And there are good reasons why all who have heard this little girl perform worship her.
First of all, there is “the voice.” It is, without a doubt, the most incredible singing voice I have ever heard — and I have heard a lot of them. There is more power behind it than one can imagine and yet she has the most exquisite and minute control up and down her unbelievable range. She can transition from a full-throated crescendo that is off the volume scale to an almost inaudible whisper from one beat to the next – all of it seemingly effortless. She makes the impossible look easy.
