Neil Patrick Harris smells nice.Don't get me wrong. I didn't sniff the star of "How I Met Your Mother" and "A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas" when he talked. It was his film co-stars, Kal Penn and John Cho, who said he smells great.
I was more interested in talking about all the attention he's been getting lately. Harris scoffs when I mention Time magazine in 2010 naming him as one of the 100 people to most affect the world.
"That was a hilarious awesome issue for me. I'm not the best for getting accolades," Harris says.
He has even less regard for the People's Choice Award he won – pointing out the honors are aired on CBS, the same network that broadcasts his TV comedy.
"Any award that can be swayed by Tw followers is not like winning an Oscar," he says.
Speaking of Oscars, Harris would have been a perfect host for the show had Billy Crystal not stepped in when Eddie Murphy bowed out. Maybe next year.
Harris is certainly a better singer than Crystal, as he showed on "Glee." Harris has never been professionally trained as a singer, but he did come from a musical family.
"I am lucky that I get to do a 'Glee' episode and sing a song that people remember. But I was in a recording booth for an hour and a half and never have to sing it again. I'm a far cry from the people who are on Broadway and singing every single night," Harris says.
True. But they probably don't smell as nice as NPH.
