Ian Thorpe 'nervous but excited' ahead of first competitive swim in five years at Fina World Cup in Singapore
Ian Thorpe has admitted he is suffering with nerves as he prepares to take part in his first competitive swim since quitting the sport five years ago, when he returns at the Fina World Cup meet in Singapore.

Thorpe will compete in the 100m individual medley on Friday before turning his hand to the 100m butterfly as he seeks to rediscover the form that saw him win 11 world titles.
But despite his unrivalled pedigree there are concerns that Thorpe has not left himself enough time to qualify for London 2012, let alone be competitive.
Contrary to speculation Thorpe will not be trialling a new stroke in Singapore, and the other short-course events in Beijing and Tokyo, preferring to work on improving his current stroke with coach Gennadi Touretski.
"I am excited about being part of the Australian team again, which I regard as a great honour. I am a little nervous but looking forward to racing again."
