Episode 11 - Jane and the Truth SnakeFirst broadcast: Oct. 1, 2001 Synopsis: Jane loses her job reporting traffic on radio, so she takes some pills of unknown origin and, with her doubtful friends, plans a new career as an insult sock. (You really don't want to know.) Meanwhile, Patrick's latest conquest is up for a threesome, but she surprises Patrick with with her choice of third partner. Review: By now, each of the main characters has had a worthy showcase. Unfortunately, this episode is Jane's, which means that the same twisted-pretzel logic that usually energizes these stories works in reverse for her. She loses a job simple enough even for her, then she goes out of her way to alienate her closest friends and even her former employer. One could chalk it up to the drugs she took, except that they wear off as soon as it's convenient for the plot. Big mistake, handing over the show to its least ingratiating character. But Jeff's latest catchphrase has resonance (the concept of an "ass beach," because Jeff magnanimously decides that people with derriere cleavage "are people too"). And the threesome subplot has a nice punchline. If only they'd quit cutting back to Jane!! My rating: * * 1/2
