Episode 7 - The Man with Two LegsFirst broadcast: Sept. 3, 2001 Synopsis: Jeff tries to make conversation with a woman he has observed on a train, and he ends up spewing out a stupid lie on which he has to build; Sally's new romance also involves a lie, leading to vast misunderstandings among the group's males. Another side-splitter that spotlights Jeff and his vastly swirling mind. First, he "falls in love" with a woman, whose physique he judges solely by the one exposed leg that represents all he has ever seen of her. Then, when Jeff actually gets the chance to chat with the woman, he can't grasp a singular train of thought long enough for it to make sense, finally having to build and build upon a whopper of a lie that manages to leak out. Sally's lie about her new boyfriend is also laugh-inducing. In fact, this episode's only debit is that it ends on a laugh line, rather than watching the respective parties squirm out from under their lies. Otherwise, one for the ages. My rating: * * *1/2

Was intented to be remade as the 11th episode of AmeriCoupling, but the show was canceled soon before this episode was to tape.Jane: I’ve always wanted to date a gynaecologist. I wanna know I’m special. Jeff: I have the key to the Gates Of Paradise! But I've got too many legs!Sally: I can't stay friends with men who know what I'm like in bed. I'd have to kill them.Jeff: This is the curse of Jeff Murdock. I meet the woman of my dreams and I can’t take my trousers off. Patrick: You've seen this woman on the train and you find her attractive, yeah?Jeff: Yeah.Patrick: And you haven't had sex with her?Jeff: No.Patrick: You see my problem?In the scene where Jeff finally converses with Chrissy, the train is clearly sitting still the whole time (you can see the same people standing at the station in the background). Steven Moffat explained that the train made too much noise when it moved, making the dialogue inaudible, so they had to film the whole scene with the train standing still.Second appearance of Mariella Frostrup (the first is in episode 2)Steve: If music be the food of love, then masturbation is just a snack between meals.Jeff: Steve’s whole fantasy life revolves around Mariella Frostrup… If he ever meets Mariella Frostrup in person his right hand will shout 'mother'.During the masturbation discussion, Jeff reminisces: "you're shaking the caravan, Jeffrey!". At the porn store, we hear that there's a whole shipment to go to "Caravan Shaker". The quote that they use in this episode is from a movie called "To Have and Have Not."
