Heading into tonight’s MTV Music Video Awards (VMA), MTV hopes to capitalize on social media to extend the awareness for the event. To help fans keep track of the VMA buzz on Tw!tter, 【MTV has created the VMA Tw!tter Tracker】 (NOTE: the VMA Tw!tter Tracker only works in Chrome, Safari and Firefox – sorry Internet Explorer users). Has MTV explains, “Fans who want to get in on the VMA action can head to our MTV Tw!tter Tracker, where the section labeled ‘buzz’ will display photos of the celebs getting the most mentions. The photos will shrink and grow depending on popularity from moment to moment, so you’ll always know who’s blowing up.”
Last year MTV tracked more than 1.5 million tweets during the first 3 hours of broadcast and this year, heading into the start of the VMAs, 【Joe Jonas is leading all celebrities with the most Tw!tter mentions.】 Joe Jonas is scheduled to be a presenter this year at the MTV Music Video Awards and will be introducing Chris Brown’s performance at the VMAs.
The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live tonight from Los Angeles at 9pm EST. Justin Bieber’s girlfriend and singer/actress Selena Gomez is hosting the VMA pre-short at 8pm EST for those fans wanting to see the list of nominees and review highlights from last year’s VMAs.
