Tottenham have revealed that they could receive £18.6 million from Manchester United for Michael Carrick. The midfielder is due to arrive in Manchester on Monday to undergo a medical and agree personal terms with The Red Devils. A fee was agreed on Friday which allowed Carrick to head to Manchester and Spurs have now confirmed the size of the bid which persuaded them to give the green light to the transfer. "Tottenham Hotspur plc announces that agreement has been reached for the transfer of the player registration of Michael Carrick, subject to the player agreeing personal terms and passing a medical, to Manchester United Football Club for a total consideration of up to £18.6 million," read a statement on Spurs' official website. Red Devils chief Sir Alex Ferguson has been targeting a holding midfielder ever since the departure of Roy Keane and he settled on Carrick despite being linked with a clutch of players including Patrick Vieira, Mahamadou Diarra and Marcos Senna. Carrick could well be joined by more new faces in Manchester before the transfer window slams shut at the end of August. "We have targeted several players but in my experience, these things take time," said Ferguson. "Michael will have his medical on Monday and then, hopefully, we will be able to conclude that deal."
