Working Title has been mulling a follow-up to the Renee Zellweger-starrers since 2009.
A third Bridget Jones's Diary movie is in the works.
Title Films, the production company behind the first movies, first confirmed the news to EW.com. Bridget Jones's Diary, based off a novel by Helen Fielding, was released in 2001 and made $281 million worldwide; the sequel, The Edge of Reason, hit theaters in 2004 and raked in $262 million worldwide.
Title Films has been considering a follow-up since 2009, EW reports. No other details are yet available, including if star Renee Zellweger and her love interests Colin Firth and Hugh Grant are confirmed.

But Firth hinted last year he would be back, and revealed a few potential plot details.
"I can tell you that Bridget and Mark can’t have children, I think that’s the way it goes on,” Firth told Access Hollywood. “So then she makes the huge mistake of going back to Daniel Cleaver [Grant's character] for long enough to get pregnant. And I think he dumps her, and she’s left stranded, and guess who comes back to rescue her?”

The London Evening Standard reported in March that Fielding was writing a third book in the series -- and would be working on an accompanying film.
“I will be working on both the book and the film but I don’t know if they are the same thing yet. It’s not been decided," she said.
