Pat Cash Is First to Climb the Grandstand (1987)Pat Cash, known for his black and white headband, broke tradition by climbing up the grandstand to celebrate his Wimbledon win with his family. Players at Grand Slam tournaments have since followed in his footsteps.


Martina Navratilova Wins Her Ninth Wimbledon (1990)In 1990 Navratilova won the Wimbledon title for the ninth time, breaking a record that had stood since 1938. As if that wasn't enough she also won 11 Wimbledon doubles championships. Billie Jean King is the only other player to have captured 20 Wimbledon victories.


Tim Henman Hits a Ball Girl and then Apologizes with Flowers and a Kiss (1995)In a fit of anger during a doubles match with Jeremy Bates, Timothy Henman smacked a ball, which hit the ball girl on the side of her head. Despite his unsportsmanlike behavior, Henman emerged with even more supporters when he apologized, bought the girl flowers, and then planted a kiss on her cheek in front of the crowds.

Sir Cliff Richard Endures the Rain With a Sing-Along (1996)British pop singer Cliff Richards must have known that nothing makes time go faster than a wholesome sing-along. He got the traditionally well-behaved crowd to sing his hits while they were waiting for the rain to clear and the games to begin.


A Streaker Crashes Center Court (1996)Just before the men's single final between Richard Krajicek of the Netherlands and MaliVai Washington of the United States began, a streaker ran across Center Court. She received a few laughs, including from the players, before police escorted her away.


Goran Ivanisevic Becomes the First and Only Wildcard to Win Wimbledon (2001)Goran Ivanisevic, ranked 125th in the world, won the men's title in Wimbledon in 2001 after beating Pat Rafter. He is still in the books as the lowest-ranked player and the first and only wildcard entry to ever win Wimbledon.


Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal Face Off in an Epic Final (2008)In a dramatic championship match, Rafael Nadal beat the formidable Roger Federer to win his first Wimbledon title and end the Swiss player's — who had not lost on grass for 65 matches — winning tradition.With the winning shot, Nadal became the first man since Bjorn Born in 1980 to win the French Open and Wimbledon titles back-to-back.
