Last week the world championships took place in Moscow and Tomas finished in 12th place. The winner of the event was Patrick Chan from Canada. Read more.
In the short program Tomas unfortunately fell on his opening quad toeloop, but did land his triple axel and a triple lutz - triple toeloop combination. Despite the mistake he wasn't that far behind from the podium having scored 75.94 points.
"All of a sudden I found myself down on the ice and then there is nothing you can do but continue, which is what I did" Tomas commented on his fall.
In the long program Tomas fell on the quad toeloop again, but other than a double axel that should have been a triple, Tomas landed the rest of his jumps quite nicely. He received 140.93 points for his free skate and with that he came to a total of 216.87 points.
"I guess it was one of the worst skates of the season, but I did enjoy it. I worked until the end to get the audience inolved which I think worked out and that gives me a lot of happiness. It's true that I was one of the underdogs, but this competition just didn't work out for me at all. I'm sorry about one small mistake in the short program, but that wasn't such a big disaster. In the long program I threw away a lot more points and I'm a little sad about that. the reaction of the audience was really great however. Eventhough I did not live up to the role of favorite, I do think that I am coming back to skating and good form." Tomas said after his long program.
