The RIAA reports that TAYLOR SWIFT has set a new record with 22.5 million career digital song certifications to date, according to its (RIAA) MARCH Gold & Platinum tally. Her sales spurt came from "You Belong With Me" going from 2x to 3x multi-Platinum and Platinum songs "Fifteen," "Forever & Always" and "Back To December."
SWIFT broke the previous record of 20 million digital singles certified, set by LADY GAGA in FEBRUARY. RIHANNA and the BLACK EYED PEAS follow with 19 and 17.5 million respective song certifications.
Other certifications in MARCH: ADELE's sophomore album, 21, and her debut album, 19, both went Platinum; her first single, "Rolling In The Deep," hit Gold. BRUNO MARS’ debut album DOO-WOPS & HOOLIGANS went Platinum while his hits "Grenade" and "Just the Way You Are" went Gold and 3x multi-Platinum, respectively. WIZ KHALIFA earned his first double-Platinum award for "Black & Yellow."
Platinum plaques also went to MUMFORD & SONS and FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE for songs "Little Lion Man" and "Dog Days Are Over." NICKI MINAJ and CHRISTINA PERRI were also given first-time Platinum awards for respective ballads "Your Love" and "Jar of Hearts."
Mining Gold were ERIC CHURCH ("Smoke a Little Smoke" and "Love Your Love the Most"), JARON AND THE LONG ROAD TO LOVE "Pray for You"), LIL WAYNE ("6 Foot 7 Foot," "Knockout" and "Right Above It"), DRAKE ("Miss Me" and "Find Your Love") and LUPE FIASCO ("The Show Must Go On").
