Are You a Clanker, or a Darwinist?
Scott Westerfeld,
writer of the awesome Uglies series (as well as Peeps, Midnighters and more!), has a new book that's different from anything he's written before. We're used to dystopian visions of the future from Westerfeld, but this time he's looking to the past--sort of. Leviathan is historical fiction with a sci-fi twist-- a World War I adventure that takes place in an alternate universe where both sides are fighting with fantastic weapons. The Clankers have steam driven battle machines loaded with guns, while the Darwinists have created animals specifically for war (including a whale airship)! The book also has amazing illustrations by Ottawa artist Keith Thompson that really take you into the world Westerfeld has created.
