Please read the important message below. Your account on the University of Arizona E-mail system has been created and is ready for your use. There are a few things you need to know. You are responsible for knowing this information. In that regard, please save this message for future reference. * In order to access your e-mail, you can use UA WebMail <http://email.arizona.edu>, or the e-mail software (client) of your choice. For information on WebMail and several software programs, visit <http://computing.arizona.edu/help/email>. There are answers to many of your e-mail questions at that same Web location. * Your account comes with a space quota of 100 megabytes, meaning that is the total size of all e-mail messages and attachments you can have on the e-mail system at any one time. This amount includes deleted messages if they are not purged from the system. The purging of deleted messages can be done automatically and must be set up in WebMail. Each time you login to WebMail, you can see the amount of space remaining in your account. You will be notified when your account is approaching its quota limit. Once your account reaches its quota, you will no longer be able to send or receive messages. Periodically move important messages from the UA E-mail system to the hard drive on your computer and delete less important messages. This is easily done, either with WebMail or your own e-mail software. * Automatic spam filtering is enabled for your account. A folder called "spamcan" will hold messages marked as spam for thirty days, after which they will be purged. Periodically review the contents of your spamcan folder to see that it includes only spam mail and not legitimate mail. See <http://computing.arizona.edu/help/email/spamcan.html> for more information regarding automatic spam filtering. * Practice safe computing by not opening unknown e-mail attachments. Do not click on links in unsolicited e-mails unless you are sure of the message's origin. Computer viruses and worms are transmitted through attachments and links. This is a common method used to attack the University's computer network, your computer and your privacy. * Access to the University computer network, which includes University e-mail, is a privilege that can be revoked if abused. Read more about your rights and the University's expectations: - Electronic Mail Policy <http://records.web.arizona.edu/efinal> - Official Student E-mail Policy <http://www.registrar.arizona.edu/emailpolicy.htm> - Employee E-mail Policy <http://policy.web.arizona.edu/uaemail> - University Policies and Procedures <http://policy.web.arizona.edu/computing>. * When you leave the University, your e-mail account will be removed from the University E-mail system.
