National team coordinator Valeri Liukin will lead the five-day camp. The camp will begin with physical abilities testing, followed by verifications on all four apparatus. As members of the U.S. national team prepare for this summer’s competitions, including the P&G Gymnastics Championships, scheduled for August 17-20 in Anaheim, Calif., the focus of the camp will be to finalize routine construction, improve technical execution of skills and exactness of dance elements. 2016 Olympic team replacement athletes Ragan Smith and Ashton Locklear are participating in the camp. The camp began with physical abilities testing, where Maile O’Keefe of Las Vegas/Salcianu Elite, Ragan Smith of Lewisville, Texas/Texas Dreams Gymnastics, and Shilese Jones of Westerville, Ohio/Buckeye Gymnastics, took the top three spots. The camp also included verifications on each apparatus with athletes vying for international assignments showing full routines on competition surfaces. The top three in senior verification were: Riley McCusker of Brielle, N.J./MG Elite, Smith and Morgan Hurd of Middletown, Del./First State Gymnastics. The top three in junior verification were Emma Malabuyo of Flower Mound, Texas/Texas Dreams, O’Keefe and Gabby Perea of Geneva, Ill./Legacy Elite. In addition, Sunisa Lee of Saint Paul, Minn./Midwest Gymnastics Center, was added to the national team based on her performances at the February camp. The focus of the camp is to continue to provide guidance for proper execution and finalize routine composition for the first half of the 2017 competitive season. Particular attention will be paid to dance preparation and finalizing choreography. The U.S. women are expected to participate in the International Gymnastics Federation’s all-around World Cup series, including the AT&T American Cup, scheduled for March 4 in Newark, N.J. USAG 6月camp HUNTSVILLE, Texas, June 1, 2015 – The U.S. Women’s National Team Camp for June begins today at the USA Gymnastics National Team Training Center at the Karolyi Ranch, an official U.S. Olympic Training Site. The five-day camp, which will be led by National Team Coordinator Martha Karolyi, ends on Friday, June 5. At the conclusion of the camp, USA Gymnastics will announce the eight-woman Pan American Games training squad from which the five-member team for the 2015 Pan American Games (July 10-26, in Toronto, Canada) will be selected at the June 29 camp. Athletes vying for the Pan Am squad will verify nearly full routines and work to finalize routine construction. Athletes not attempting to be named to the Pan Am squad will verify half routines. All athletes attending the camp will continue to refine their technical execution, upgrade their dance preparation and participate in physical abilities testing.
