The Reds skipper admits he does not know where he will be playing next season, with his contract set to expire. Luke Chambers Chambers, who is understood to be attracting attention from Cardiff City, says he would not completely rule out staying at the City Ground – but insists he does not want to be involved in another fight against relegation. He believes the same thought will be running through the minds of the other five players whose deals are set to expire in the next few months. And he believes the likes of Joel Lynch, Garath McCleary and Paul Anderson in particular – as well as the five loan signings who Steve Cotterill has admitted he would like to bring back to the club next season – will be paying careful attention to the takeover situation. "It would influence the players, of course it would," said Chambers, 26. "I do not want to be playing down at the bottom of the division. "I am used to playing in big, important matches where there are far more positive things at stake. "I am not saying our games were not important, they were, because we wanted to stay in the division. "Now we have stayed in the Championship, perhaps the club is a more attractive proposition to potential buyers. "And, if a lot of money comes in to the club, it will make it a different kettle of fish, without question. "But I am at the age where I want to be playing at the highest level I can. I have been here for more than five years and it has been a positive experience. "We can take credit for the job we have done, to turn things around. But we want more, we want to be challenging for promotion again." Chambers says he will go away on holiday for a few weeks before making a decision. "I am not going to put a lot of thought into football for the next two weeks, I am going to have a break," he said. "But, at the moment, if you ask me where I will be next season, I can't honestly answer that question. "I want to be involved in a team that is moving in the right direction. Hopefully I can do that, wherever that might be, in the future."
