【那样Joke】 Milan eyeing Bryant AC Milan admits that they are interested in LA Lakers player Kobe Bryant. The aggressive shooter scored a record-high 81 points in the road game against Raptors last season. Milan is said to have watched Bryant for years, but the shooter-shortage and the coming end of transfer periord urge Milan to make quick decision on the long-term target. However, LA Lakers says they haven't received any official contact. Kobe Bryant, the son of an Italy immigrant, claimed this summer that he was an admirer of Rossoneri and 'have been dreamed of playing for Milan'.杜撰的似模似样的,呵呵milan fans 和 kobe fans 别介意just a joke某milan fan 心急米兰新近的人员荒问题,制造出的rumor

GLOBAL: Leandro Barbosa First impression of Suns' guard Leandro Barbosa is his resemblance to pop singer Usher. It goes beyond the small eyes and the baby face that hides well his 23 birthdays. He is courteous and cordial and flashes a smile almost too ’Hollywood’ for a kid from Sao Paulo. But it probably is not Hollywood so much as it is history. Brazil gave us showman Pele in soccer, Gigglin' Guga in tennis and finally Leandro Barbosa 'Leandrinho' in basketball. Over the years, Brazil enjoyed dominance in both soccer and tennis, and basketball might not be too far away. Barbosa explains. "Nene got in the NBA and he opened the door for other players in Brazil. After the season that he did play in the NBA he did a great job, so the people in the NBA started looking at us with different eyes and that helped. I went with our national team to Indianapolis to the 2002 World Championships and I made a couple of contacts though my agent. I came to the draft and after that I left my country and my team in Brazil and went to Cleveland to work out for three months. I got picked by San Antonio and was traded to the Phoenix Suns." Things were moving rapidly at the World Championships and beyond. Going against powerhouses like Argentina, Yugoslavia and Spain and yet finishing in the 8th spot, the tournament was a success both for the Brazilian national team and Barbosa himself. He peaked the interest of select NBA scouts and was drafted as the 28th pick in the 2003 draft. Barbosa, or L.B. as he is known among fellow Suns, feels that the good showing in Indianapolis -- his first visit to the United States -- led to the success he is currently having with the Suns. "I was really happy in Indianapolis, I had a dream to come to America, it is a country that everybody wanted to be, I was really happy the first time, it was great. And now in Phoenix, I am very happy to play with a lot of stars like Raja, Shawn Marion, Steve Nash; they helped me out a lot. We are really good friends, the whole team. We always stick together, that is very important for the team. When a player misses something or makes a mistake, everybody helps each other." Spoken like a true student of team sports. Barbosa spent five years playing basketball at the highest level in Brazil and had established himself as a sharpshooter at the very start. He fit well with the team and because of his size and demeanor was even given the playfully diminutive nickname Leandrinho, or little Leandro. Although playing in the NBA is what he always wanted, leaving the security and comfort of his home country and his national team was going to be a challenge. In meeting that challenge, Barbosa and his game had both evolved. "It changed a lot, you know. I got a lot of help from the coaches. First time I got here it was really hard because I could not speak English. Hopefully, it is getting better. I am feeling comfortable. I have been making a lot of friends and it has been helpful, I am feeling more comfortable than before.
Paul Coro The Arizona Republic Aug. 3, 2006 12:00 AM LAS VEGAS - Amaré Stoudemire was accustomed to flying when he put on the NBA's most dynamic aerial displays before two knee surgeries. He was the show's most fearless pilot but he probably won't make the next major flight. Stoudemire likely will not be among the 12 players of this week's 15 USA Basketball campers to get tickets to the World Championship. Tonight's exhibition game against Puerto Rico, to be shown live on ESPN2 at 8, appears to be Stoudemire's final major test in his summer comeback program. It kicked into gear with his first five-on-five game five weeks ago and continued with lukewarm reviews at the Vegas Summer League and USA Basketball camp. "Chances are, when we leave at the end of the week, that would probably be the end of it and that we wouldn't take him on the trip because he's just not physically far enough long," said USA Basketball senior men's team managing director Jerry Colangelo, who is also the Suns' chief executive officer and chairman. "But this was good for him. He did play up." Stoudemire may have missed USA Basketball's exhibition tour in Korea and China and World Championship competition in Japan anyway. His first son (second child) is due in about a week. Family considerations aside, Stoudemire did not progress enough to help a team going for gold. The Suns All-Star even sat out Wednesday's practice with a sore hip, which was unrelated to his knee troubles. Stoudemire's lag continues to have more to do with a lack of his trademark explosiveness on the court. Healthwise, he has no swelling or pain in his surgically repaired knees. "It is frustrating," Stoudemire said. "It's tough to take a back seat when you're used to being in the front seat. It's a matter of willpower. It's more of a mental thing when you know you're the head of your class and a knee surgery sets you back. I will be back to the head of the class." Stoudemire had one standout day, the final intrasquad scrimmage of the camp's first week here, but is usually tentative to let go on the court. That is why he is playing this summer. The Suns would have a perplexing situation if he were going through these awkward stages, which he puts at 70 percent, during training camp in Europe. "People have delusions if they think he's going to be 100 percent in October," Colangelo said. "In all likelihood, it's going to take him longer than that but as long as he's progressing and moving forward, it just takes time. It's not for lack of effort. "He was given clearance. Now, it's a mental thing in my opinion." For example, Stoudemire tried windmill dunks in practice to see how high he can get as he jumps from outside the paint. "But as far as in traffic, I'm not comfortable yet," he said. With Shawn Marion out of the mix due to knee pain and Stoudemire likely heading home for good, the Suns' ties to the team will lie with Colangelo, assistant coach Mike D'Antoni and the ties to guard Joe Johnson, who has played like a superstar in Las Vegas. Now, Stoudemire will leave knowing what he needs to play like a star again. "He's still got a lot of work to do in the weight room," D'Antoni said. "To get his pop back, he's got a ways to go. This has been great for him just to show him where he's at and the work he's got to do."

【纳样zz】A bright forecast for this Sun A bright forecast for this Sun By Peter May, Globe Staff | August 2, 2006 LAS VEGAS -- You watch him and you are immediately guilty, guilty of expecting something that still cannot be. You wait for the explosive lift, the thunderous dunk, and, well, you continue to wait. And wait. You know it's there. But where is it? Amare Stoudemire is out here in the desert, practicing with the US national basketball team for this month's World Championships in Japan. He still isn't close to being the destructive force that terrorized the NBA in 2004-05, when he threatened to supplant Shaquille O'Neal as the single most menacing, frightening force in the league. Right now, he's more like amare stoudemire as he continues a rehabilitation from two surgeries, which forced him to miss all but three games of the 2005-06 season. He's handling the competition. He's handling the daily wear and tear. But no one can say when he will return to the Stoudemire of old. Everyone, however, uses the word ``when" in discussing such a return, which sounds a lot better than "if." Stoudemire made the list of 15 players who will practice here this week, then head to China, Korea, and Japan. He has to be considered a long shot to be among the final 12 for the actual World Championship roster for two reasons: His health issues and the fact that he is soon to become a father and he wants to miss no part of that. "It's going to be tough for him," said USA Basketball boss Jerry Colangelo, who also is the Phoenix Suns CEO and thus has more than just a casual interest in Stoudemire's situation. Colangelo selected Stoudemire for the team last season, when the 23-year-old one-man wrecking crew was recovering from left knee microfracture surgery. A three-game return in March ended when he felt pain in his right knee. A second operation April 5 removed what's known as a Baker's cyst, a pocket of joint fluid that forms a lump behind the knee and causes swelling and discomfort. He had to start the rehab process anew. Stoudemire has been given a clean bill of health by all the doctors who've checked him out. Suns coach Mike D'Antoni, an assistant on the US team, said, "He just needs to get the rust off his game and get in shape. It's an uphill climb for him now. It's understandable. "But we're really happy he's here. You need this kind of competition to spur you on a little bit and show you where you've got to go. It's a long road back. He still gets stiff because he's not in the greatest shape and he still has a lot of work to do. Hopefully, by training camp, he'll be that much further ahead. But, it might be a half a year, it might be a while." Or, as Colangelo said, "The real question is, 'How long it will take?' And no one really knows." The Yanks won't get to see the Stoudemire that averaged 37 points a game in the 2005 Western Conference finals against the eventual champion San Antonio Spurs, a pretty strong defensive team. After that series, San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich said, "We had no answers for him. And he knew it."

Nash takes it off with new hairdo July 19, 2006VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -- Steve Nash has replaced his mop-top with a buzz cut. The two-time NBA most valuable player showed up at a basketball camp Wednesday with his trademark unruly hairdo gone. "I just cut it," shrugged the Phoenix Suns star. "I don't really have a rhyme or reason. I felt like taking it off." Nash is almost as famous for his long, wild hair as he is for his pinpoint passes and sharp shootings. Fans of an NBA video game even complained the Canadian point guard's hair did not "flow" properly, forcing the manufacturer to make changes. Nash was in Vancouver to host a charity basketball game. The money raised will go to the Steve Nash Foundation, which is dedicated to assisting underserved children in their health, personal development, education and enjoyment of life. He took time to work with about 20 of Canada's top high school basketball players attending a Nike-sponsored training camp. Nash addressed the players, then helped them with some on-court skills. "I was like wow," said Vancouver's Robert Sacre, a 7-foot high school student who has already committed to attend Gonzaga in Spokane, Wash. Nash smiled when told of his affect the players. "I really just wanted to answer their questions," he said. "I just try to tell them how hard you have to work and how bad you have to want it to be a good player. A lot of time kids say they want to be great but they don't want to put in the time." 灭图

【那样happy】好消息,sarver终于表示愿意为正确的人支付奢侈税, Suns' off-season builds steam Paul Coro The Arizona Republic Jul. 9, 2006 12:00 AM LAS VEGAS - There is more going on with the Suns this week in Las Vegas than getting Amaré Stoudemire game-ready and figuring out if Romain Sato or another summer player can stick. What happens here won't stay here. Phoenix's staff is having talks that will have long-term impacts on a team with at least three roster spots to address beyond trade options. The Suns coaches and executives gather in a taped-off section of Cox Pavilion, home to Vegas Summer League games. There, they have an optimistic discussion with Leandro Barbosa's agent, Bill Duffy, that makes the possibility of a long-term contract extension with him more promising. Away from the arena, Suns staffers gather to talk about their next move in free agency or trade. They have nearly all summer to act, although the team's $3.6 million trade exception will expire Aug. 21. The Suns actually could use the exception to bridge a salary disparity of $3.7 million in a sign-and-trade deal. That is looking more like the scenario that Phoenix would use to address the backup point guard slot. The Suns are not out of the free-agent business even after their initial targets signed elsewhere. There are priorities to find a veteran point and depth at the wing. One or the other would be addressed in free agency, where the capped-out Suns can split up the $5.4 million mid-level exception or use veteran minimum deals. If Phoenix goes point guard via free agency, it could be Marcus Banks or Chucky Atkins before Jannero Pargo. If the Suns choose to sign a swingman, it might be Rasual Butler, Devean George, John Salmons, Jumaine Jones or Matt Barnes. For the right player, Suns Managing Partner Robert Sarver is willing to push the payroll past the luxury tax threshold, a costly move because of the dollar-for-dollar penalty and the switch of becoming a taxpayer rather than tax pool receiver. If Phoenix does so, it would likely be because of a trade. "We're moving forward in terms of keeping our existing core and addressing needs within the framework of the payroll," said David Griffin, the Suns' vice president of basketball operations. "I expect by the time October comes around we'll be better than we are today and more locked into our existing core." The Suns' exclusive negotiating rights for Barbosa and Boris Diaw contract extensions expire at the end of October. In evaluating summer players, a team with title aspirations has a delicate balance to wrestle - impact vs. potential. That dilemma is further toughened because any summer league addition not named Stoudemire likely would start outside the rotation, one that now includes Stoudemire, Diaw, Barbosa, Steve Nash, Shawn Marion, Raja Bell, Kurt Thomas and James Jones. "You're trying to find a piece here and a piece there," said Vinny Del Negro, the team's new director of player personnel. "You're trying to finish the puzzle off. Sometimes, those last pieces are not as easy to find. Hopefully, it's a free agent that can give us something we possibly don't have or want to get better at." Griffin said upside must outweigh the help a specialist could provide. He predicts the Suns would add two minimum-salary free agents. "When you have as many high-end deals as we do, you're going to have to accurately predict minimum-contract guys," Griffin said. "When you're making a run at a title, that's a delicate balance. There's a likelihood that you can get a veteran that will play for you and help you win a championship." The players know the free-agency game as well as the game they play best. Ruben Douglas can run and score in bunches but that does not make a future in Phoenix or the NBA any more likely. "I just try to play the best basketball I can," Douglas said. "If Phoenix is interested, they are interested. If not, hopefully someone else is. If not, I'll go over waters and make some money."

MOVING MARION: There are several rumors floating around about the Suns trading Shawn Marion – while moving Shawn is an old story – he is not happy with his place in Phoenix, the deals being bantered about in the press are simply wishful thinking according to sources close to the Suns. Suns GM and head coach Mike D’Antoni says he’s spoken with several teams asking about Shawn and has turned them all away, yet he continues to see the reports in the paper saying his club was close to a deal. Suns sources say until Amare Stoudemire proves he’s healthy enough to play the season the Suns are not going to risk tearing the team apart just yet. There is truth to Leandro Barbosa being available – the Suns have told a number of agents in the draft process that they did not feel they could retain LB in free agency which is a year away for Leandro.
