猩红蜘蛛 #21 封面 Although the solicitation text for the issue promises the return, it may take seeing Ryan Stegman's just-released cover for "Scarlet Spider" #21 to fully register that Ben Reilly does indeed appear to be coming back from the grave. The "Superior Spider-Man" artist posted his cover online late Monday, and fans soon took notice. The art depicts a clash between current Scarlet Spider Kaine and what appears to be Peter Parker's other clone, Reilly, in a sleeveless hoody version of the classic Scarlet Spider torn sweatshirt outfit. Sharp-eyed fans have been quick to point out that it also appears to depict the returning character shooting impact webbing, a specialized derivation of Spider-Man's classic webbing developed and used by Reilly. For that reason, we should probably expect to see the Scarlet Spider come to blows with the Superior Spider-Man in the "Sibling Rivalry" crossover event this summer! This August, Kaine Parker will be reunited with his "brother" in a two-part crossover which will take place across Superior Spider-Man Team-Up #2 and Scarlet Spider #20. Written by Chris Yost, "Sibling Rivalry" will feature Kaine coming face to face with Peter. However, what he doesn't know is that Doctor Octopus is now in control of Peter's body as the Superior Spider-Man! Before the secret about THE SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN's 'identity' was revealed, Dan Slott jokingly lead people to assume Miguel O'Hara, aka Spider-Man 2099, would be the main character featured in the Marvel NOW! Spider-Man title. Once it was revealed who SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN really was, Slott apologized but back in January, he did confirm that Spider-Man 2099 would indeed be appearing in SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN. We just didn't know when.Today at the Superior Spider-Man panel at C2E2, it was announced that Spider-Man 2099 would be appearing in SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #17. The issue will be written by Dan Slott with art by Ryan Stegman. The variant cover to the issue (seen above) is by Olivier Coipel. There is a big threat headed towards Spider-Man and the heroes from two universes are needed to try to stop it. It was also mentioned that this is the Spider-Man story that has been building since the beginning of Big Time back in 2010.
