Cur linguam Latinam discitis? Why do you learn Latin? Salvete omnes, incipiamus. 1. Half of the English vocabulary derives from Latin. Please refer to etymology. 2. Latin is the language of science, law, et cetera. Think about the periodic table and the Roman gods. Deja vu. 3. Latin helps me to learn English grammar the MOST efficiently. Let's just say that I improved from a 29 to a 35 on a 36 scale grammar test. 4. Best preparation to learn other languages. Especially Spanish. 5. Latin trains my mind. After going through the gerunds, supines, ablative absolutes, I do feel smarter. 6. Latin is cumulative, no matter what you are into. As a woman in STEM field, I say, Latin is THE BEST. 7. Latin is the base of western civilization. Vergil asked Augustus to burn Aeneid because it is not "perfect". The wise Augustus kept it. Imagine how great of information we would miss without Latin. You are welcome to add more onto the list. Please don't say Latin is dead, because it is not. There are millions of people celebrating the legacy of ancient language. 拉丁语助教兼职？？ 如题。本人英语流畅，第三年学拉丁语，刚刚读完了Aeneid book1。想暑假找个兼职做。英语虽然需求大但是学生质量实在参差不齐。我是觉得学拉丁的人都有一股dedication，不是为了学而学。所以想问有没有在这方面的机会？？？
