The rapper gave invited press and radio representatives exclusive previews of "Suit" and "Sweat" Sunday evening during invite-only listening parties at Luciano's restaurant in Clayton and at Pin-Up Bowl in the Delmar Loop, where Nelly's 257 game still holds the record. The CDs were played in their entirety for Nelly's hometown crowd, though a few songs are expected to be added later. "Suit" is the more laid-back and mellower of the two CDs, tailor-made for the many fans who loved his Grammy-winning "Dilemma." "Sweat" is designed to make listeners do just that with its more upbeat sounds. Several listens to the CDs make it clear that Nelly still has the right beats and rhymes to keep him at the top of his game. Nelly's new work dips into a star-studded, genre-crossing pool of acts, including Christina Aguilera, OutKast's Big Boi, Ron Isley, Snoop Dogg, Fat Joe, T.I., Lil Flip, Jaheim, Anthony Hamilton, Mase, Stephen Marley, St. Lunatics and, in the biggest shock, Tim McGraw. New singles "Flap Your Wings," produced by the Neptunes, and "My Place" featuring Jaheim are among the best pieces of work Nelly has ever done, and that's no hype. Nelly's just as excited about the fact he's a new owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, an NBA expansion team (Robert L. Johnson remains the majority owner). "You gotta make moves," Nelly says of his decision. "It's been my dream to own a pro ball team. I'm partners with Bob Johnson. He's still the big dog. But he's teaching me, letting me learn everything I possibly can about the business. I'm just happy the NBA is accepting me with open arms and willing to let me in."
