He had tried and failedseveral times in imperial examination in youth, then he returned to study in themountain for several years and passed the examination and became Jinshi inTianbao twe year. He had been working in the official office until resignmentat eighty years old. It is said that Xiuwei is the longest lived poet in Tangdynasty. Most of his poems are five characters, with simple and leisure style.He likes to portray countryside and is one of poets of pastoral school inflourishing Tang dynasty. His most famous poems includes Ti Nong Fu Lu She, XunXishan Yinzhe Buy U, And Fan Ruo Ye Xi . The famous poem “Spring breeze hasreturned to the south bank”, which is written by Wang Anshi, was originate fromthe poem of Qiuw”when the spring breeze comes, the mountain beside the riverwill get green ”. He and Wangwei, LiuChangqing were good friends, and they often sung the poems together. Thirteenof his poems are collected in Collect Tang poems, and five of his poems arecollected in Supplement of Tang Poems. He was best known for his ”piety”. Hegave his stepmother half of his salary, and provided support for her untildeath. Being honest, polite to the people, he lived to 96 years old, and leftto people a book called Qiuwei Collection.
