A rep for Houston told The ShowBuzz Monday, "It was simply their daughter's birthday weekend. Two parents spending time with their daughter."Happy appearances aside, times have been tough for Brown. On Friday, Brown and his attorney reneged on a deal that bailed him out of jail Thursday. Now the R&B singer owes nearly $20,000 to the Washington-area radio station that paid his bills.The 38-year-old was released after three nights in jail when Hot 99.5 FM paid the $19,150 he owed in back child support on the condition that he appear on the radio show "The Kane Show" for a week.The plan was that Brown was going to discuss the case and how he could turn his life around during studio appearances beginning Monday. But Brown backed out of an on-air phone interview with the morning show, saying he hadn't agreed to be an employee of the station."That wasn't our deal," said Brown, who hung up after Kane pressed him."We thought we clearly communicated to Bobby our intentions, but once we had him on the air this morning it was clear that we were not on the same page," said Kane, who goes by one name.Both the station, which broadcasts in the Washington area, and Brown's attorney decided the deal wasn't in the singer's best interest and that Brown will return the money."We feel that there are better things we can do with the money locally," said Kane.Brown was arrested while he was watching his Bobbi Kristina's cheerleading competition in Massachusetts last week.Phaedra Parks, Brown's attorney in Atlanta, has said the singer has been struggling to meet monthly payments to Kim Ward, of Stoughton, Mass., the mother of two of his children.This is latest in a series of child support troubles for Brown, a Boston native best known for the solo hit "Don't Be Cruel."In 2004, he was sentenced to 90 days in prison for missing three months of payments, but the sentence was suspended after he paid about $15,000. He also paid $11,000 in delinquent child support in October after being threatened with arrest.

Houston has only been back East once recently, to spend Thanksgiving at her Mendham, N.J., estate with family and close friends. And while Whitney may bring fledgling singer Ray J with her to Davis's party as a date, the pair are just friends. Houston knows Ray J through his sister, Brandy. Then again, Brandy herself is having so much trouble right now with her hit-and-run and a $50 million civil suit brought by the victim's parents that Houston might do well to just bring her mother instead. Houston is not expected to sing at Davis' party, but she will be rooting on many of her friends who may also be in attendance, from Mary J. Blige to Justin Timberlake . (No guest list is available this soon. It's a Davis tradition to have as many surprises as possible.) The singing will come next if she, Davis and Boyd feel that she's ready to take on the pressures of resuming her music career.
