Neville: We All Stand Together Gary Neville has defended Cristiano Ronaldo's World Cup exploits and insists Manchester United will protect him. United's straight-talking club captain played in the England-Portugal game which caused such a media frenzy at this summer's tournament. Striker Wayne Rooney was sent off for The Three Lions for stamping on defender Ricardo Carvalho when tackled from behind. Ronaldo seemed to implore the referee to act straight after the incident and was later caught on camera winking to the bench, but Neville says he understands the pressures that go with international football and bears no grudge against his club colleague. "You know, I saw the incident after the game with Portugal and I saw exactly what happened with what Wayne did and I saw exactly what Cristiano's reaction was," Neville exclusively told Sky Sports News. "I don't have a problem with Cristiano for that, I went and swapped shirts with him after that. "The English will always come up with excuses and scapegoats for why they haven't won and this time it was Cristiano. "The reason we lost the game was because Wayne got sent off, which he knows about, we didn't score the penalties and we didn't get the goal. "It was nothing to do with Cristiano why we didn't win that tournament." The experienced full back believes Ronaldo is just the latest in a line of Old Trafford players to be scapegoated by the media after international tournaments. A young David Beckham was the victim after the 1998 World Cup exit to Argentina, while Phil Neville was singled out for giving a penalty away in the Euro 2000 exit to Romania and the older Neville is proud that United stick by their under-fire stars. "We always protect our own, right the way back to David Beckham coming back from a tournament, my brother in 2000, it has always been the case where United will protect its own players," Neville continued. "It happened again this summer with Cristiano and Wayne, but he is at the right place and he'll be protected by the manager, who is brilliant at doing that. "The players will never have any problem. "What happens in an international game has got nothing to do with what happens at Manchester United."Source: Sky Sportsim happy to see gaz protecting him and the rest of united...
我的妈妈来...Hargreaves is staying at Bayern Bayern general manager Uli Hoeneß has quashed speculation that Owen Hargreaves could be leaving Bayern for the English Premiership, despite the 25-year-old's revelation that he is considering a "fantastic" offer from Manchester United."We're not interested. Owen has a contract until 2010 and he will see it out. The issue is closed," Hoeneß declared on Wednesday afternoon.Sought-after signatureEngland international Hargreaves, a hot property in the Premiership at the moment after emerging as one of the few success stories from England's dismal World Cup showing, publicly confirmed United's interest in a Sport Bild interview."The offer from United is fantastic. Particularly as an England international, it's of interest to me, and you never know if an opportunity like this will come around again," the player was quoted as saying.Yearning for EnglandIronically enough, Hargreaves will appear at Old Trafford on Wednesday night when he wins a 35th full international cap with a start in his favoured holding role for England against European champions Greece. The versatile midfielder arrived in Munich from Calgary Foothills as a 16-year-old in 1997, stepping up to the senior squad in 2001. Last October, he signed a contract extension keeping him at the club until 2010, but he has never made a secret of his ultimate ambition to appear in the English top flight.Magath: I'm building around OwenPress reports claim the Manchester giants have bid up to €25 million for the player, but Bayern insist they have no intention of letting one of their prize assets leave, as the 25-year-old has a central role in coach Felix Magath's post-Michael Ballack plans.Furthermore, Valerien Ismael's broken leg means the club is even less prepared than ever to lose a genuine utility man with an excellent fitness record from the squad. "It's not a question we're even prepared to ask," the head coach remarked, "we've never discussed letting another player go."
