Audrey Sylvain的一篇采访 1. Greetings Audrey. It is a great honour for us to have a chat with you. How are you doing? -Hello. I feel better. Thank you. 2. We usually start with a question concerning the beginnings of people’s musical careers. Now it won’t be different. Do you remember when you began taking music seriously and what kind of music was it back then? -I started to listen to (real) music very young when I was around 12-13years old. I started to practice way later. 3. Do you have any musical education? Did your parents encourage you to start taking lessons? -I was half-raised by my grandmother who used to be the principal of a dance school. It is a good memory because that’s when and where I discovered the passion for the music. However, I regret having started learning piano and signing to lessons really late because I could have been more technical today. I am now studying operatic singing and music theory at the conservatory. I take piano lessons as well when I can afford it. It s really expensive. 4. And what led you to the metal, or more precisely, black metal music? What were your beginnings like and which bands did you enjoy back then? -I got there by chance! I was watching music clips on the TV (when it used to be 75% of crap) and there was a show about “extreme metal”. Back then, the bands didn’t use to be really good but it got my attention. It was a show on MTV presented by Julia Valet, around 10pm when I was supposed to be asleep, so my grandmother used to record it for me and I ‘d watch it the next day. It started with Manson, Cradle of Filth until I discovered Summoning, Limbonic Art, Burzum, Mayhem and more of them. (by buying or stealing magazines). I love this period of my life: get home from school, get isolated in the basement. I love it so much I used to dream about it at night. I lived through the music and for it. I used to listen to rock, goth and new wave and other styles I like. 5. So let us proceed in chronological order thus beginning with AMESOEURS where you sang and played bass and piano since 2004. How do you recall those times? -To be honest, I don’t keep a really good memories from that period. Firstly, I was the only member of the group who didn’t record anything at the Empyrium Studio. I had to work and I couldn’t afford the trip to Germany. I recorded the singing quickly in the garage of Neige with cheap tools. 6. Could you tell us what led you to become a member of AMESOEURS? What did influence you back then? -Neige had already composed 2 songs for Mortifera at that time. (Those 2 on the MCD) But Noktu, the group leader refused them because they sounded “too gay”according to him. Thus, Neige wanted to keep them and I helped him out making a new song: “Faiblesse des sens”. I wrote the words and found the notes for the bass. He didn’t want to sing it, so I did. 7. Your voice was definitely a characteristic element of AMESOEURS’ music as well as the lyrics. Were you the one responsible for them? How close do you feel to themes of this band? -I didn’t compose all the lyrics of AMESOEURS’ songs. Although, I felt comfortable with them but I was in the dream in the context. Now that I work almost 24h/7 , getting up at dawn and returning in the evenings for a shitty salary, I almost regret not to have remade the album. I would have had a lot of things to say. Today it is me, “the woman without a face”, wandering in the heart of the dead cities. 8. For many people the EP “Ruines Humaines” was a breakthrough and fundamental album. How do you feel about this first EP? I’m asking mainly because many artists usually have love or hate relationship towards their first demos. -I keep really good and really bad memories about this EP. Good ones: I was satisfied with the songs and lyrics, even my singing was not at all technical, it corresponded perfectly with my feelings at that time. It was sincere. Bad memories: It was a really bad period of my life. 9. After the release of the debut album the band has broke-up because the members couldn’t agree upon the future of the band. Could you tell us more about the band’s break-up? If it isn’t secret of course. -Neige wanted to continue on his own with Alcest, which was his right. During the recording, one of his ex-girlfriend’s was a bitch because she didn’t want me to participate on the album. Fortunately, it didn‘t caused any incident. Everything went well at the end. I don´t mind talking about this because it’s the truth. 10. The very same year you have joined PESTE NOIRE. You have contributed with piano and your voice to the album “Ballade Cuntre Lo Anemi Francor”. How did you get into the band? Have you known each other with Famine? -I met Famine through Neige. I loved Peste Noire right away and it was an honour for me to collaborate with Dieu Famine. 11. PESTE NOIRE were at one point playing live. What’s the current situation? Is there a chance that we could see PESTE NOIRE on the stage once again? -It’s a question you should ask him, I can’t answer for him! 12. Can you tell us how are PESTE NOIRE received in France? You seem to be great nationalists. Do people appreciate this? -You gotta know that 99% of foreigners hate more French people than France itself. So it should answer your question. What is awesome in France, you can be an Algerian, Moroccan, Turkish, Chinese or Israeli nationalist, but never a French one. 13. But let’s get back to you… Almost every musician has his or hers own idols who led them towards the music and influenced them. What about you? -I don’t have any idols. There are some groups I love though. Nowadays I listen to Klaus Nomi, Sopor Aeternus, Urfaust, Diapsiquir, Frustration, Non Stop and others… 14. And how is the woman perceived in black metal? Have you ever met with negative opinions that women do not belong in black metal? What about you? Do people respect you in France? -Like a whore! If she’s here she’s a whore. And don’t count on me to defend them. I tried to talk to some girls/women during concerts and they were unable to give me any bands they listen to, but they wore like belts nails, black make-up and so on. They were just here for their boyfriends. I couldn’t be bothered with those girls, but with those guys that think with their dicks only. For me, I am very passionate and nothing will stop me from doing it. It’ not a miserable cock that’s gonna make it change. （去过几场live的人表示这真是真相！！） 15. Lately, France has been a very fertile soil for black metal. We could even say that it overshadowed even the Scandinavian countries. Do you care about the French scene and if yes what is your opinion about it? -I am not really a “black metal” one so I don’t give a shit. 16. I can’t also omit the question about The Black Legions. Those bands and their members are worldwide considered to be a cult. Do you know any of them and what you think about LLN? Is there anything interesting you could tell us about them? -Again, I have nothing interesting to say because I don’t care. 17. That’s all from us.
