Unlike other Witch Hunters, Victor has no objections to working with other races. To him, the end justifies the means, and he is ultimately willing to fight alongside anyone as long as they are not outright enemies of Sigmar and the Empire. Choosing the Witch Hunter When we started looking at which Warhammer classes we wanted to use as our heroes, a Witch Hunter felt like a natural choice. Not only are they badass in their own right, but they are constantly fighting the forces of Chaos and evil, something that the Skaven in many ways embody. On top of that, Witch Hunters are deliciously unlikeable, willing to kill any and all who stand between them and their prey. Victor Saltzpyre’s Arsenal We gave Victor leather armor like many of his Order, to ensure that he had an agile feel, and weapons to match. He was fitted with a brace of Pistols and a Rapier as starting weapons. The Pistols were a must-have since they are such an iconic part of a Witch Hunter, while the Rapier felt like a natural melee weapon for someone who kills with technique and precision. Since we wanted to ensure our heroes are flexible in their Skaven killing techniques, we added other weapons to Victor’s arsenal. This will allow the Players to pick their own fighting style, responding to the needs of themselves or their team. The Witch Hunter’s Great Sword and Repeater Pistol will allow Victor to take down multiple foes at once, while his Crossbow and One Handed Axe lets him target individual enemies and penetrate their armour with great efficiency.

The new faction is in fact Ad Mech, Skitarii. As far as I know this is still a ways out, but who knows. There is only troops and elites, with vehicles. Mostly foot soldiers, guys with spider legs, and a couple tank/spider hybrids. I have a little information for you on a new 40k Faction. Ive seen artwork of two soldiers in heavy but clunky grey body armour and helm, with one wielding an odd looking plasma pistol of sorts. The most striking thing about the image, with smoke and laser fire in the background, is the draping of the red cloth beneath the shoulder plating, and a symbol of the Adeptus Mechanicus on the main figures chest. All I will add right now is the book is 85pgs with datasheets and formations. Weapons the plasma pistol described in your previous article is not an odd looking plasma pistol. its an arc pistol. arc weapons will be available for the skitarii in both pistol and rifle. the arc rifle is rapid fire with haywire. rifle and pistol both are s6 ap5. Cognis Weapons are normal weapons with the Cognis attached to it, like Cognis Lascannon. They simply use a BS 2 when firing snap shots because of an awakened machine spirit. Burst Pistol rules allow for 5 shots to be fired instead of just a single one. Galvanic Rifle looks like an ornate flintlock rifle with a canister on the side. R30", rapid fire, S4. Onager Dunewalker a heavy choice walker called a Onager Dunewalker will be part of the skitarii. they are an armor 12 walker that comes with overlapping forcefields that give an invulnerable save. each additional walker in the squad increases the save by 1. they come with a conversion beamer type weapon that is more powerful up close and disperses to a large but weaker blast at longer range. squadrons up to 3. Ive seen the model so I thought I would chime in and describe the Dunecrawler. Sorry no pictures, it was not possible. Its a walker with 4 armoured mechanical spider legs. The crew compartment is large metal box angled in the front. There is a small robotic arm in the front with tools and drills on the appendage. The visor for the drivers inside is a slit with optical lenses on the the left hand side of the opening. The Eradication Beamer is big, and looks like a giant conversion beamer, up top there is a gunner with a heavy stubber. I don't know the optional guns, but there are a couple. One that looks like a long barreled autocannon, but has some sort of array attached to it. None of the weapon options look like standard Imperial Weapons. Dragoon Walker There is also a Dragoon which looks to be a dual kit with a rider on top of a bipedal machine. It has legs similar to the IG sentinels, but has a grafted human in the center of the machine. I am not as fluent in the background with the skitarii as I would like to comment much more. Ive seen a walker bearing the ad mech symbols on it. The walker has a horizontal pilot hooked up to the machine with optical lenses for the pilots sight, and little mechanical grabbers that extend out from the pilots hands. There is a gunner on top in red robes and odd looking armor that reminds me of the tempestus armor except for larger eye lenses. The walker has sentinel legs, and the weapon up top is a ornate twin-linked lascannon.

Nathan: I love the city of Montreal and I had been working here, so I knew about them but more importantly, I also knew they were working on the Eternal Crusade – and I’m a big 40K fan so those two certainly fit. Then with the vision of the Eternal Crusade fitting very well with my previous experience in massive online, shooters, spandex and that I think it would also be a good fit for consoles, I think it was pretty obvious that I should try this. The food in Montreal and the people at the company being so welcoming didn’t exactly hurt either. MMORPG.com: What is your background with the 40K universe? Nathan: Professionally, I haven’t worked on 40K before and a long time ago, it was a hobby I wanted to get into. Then about 4 years ago, a group of my friends and colleagues start playing so we kind of get ourselves all into it. Over time though, I think I’m close to 100 books in the 40K universe, so I’ve spent some time investigating fully the grim darkness of the far future. I’m a Blood Angel if people are wondering, for a number of reasons. They have some similar personality traits to me, my favorite color is red and their playstyle suits me. Well, and they are kind of vampires, which fits with my previous encounter with World of Darkness. I might also have something of a thing for gold and angel wings. MMORPG.com: Projects in any industry, unfortunately, do not have a good track record of success when the project manager switches half way through. How do you plan on instilling confidence in the longtime supporters of Eternal Crusade that you are the right person to see the game through this transition period in development? Nathan: It’s true but what needs to be kept in mind is that game development teams are so different from game to game. I wasn’t the first producer on EVE and I thought that went pretty ok but that’s because I had strong creative leads, amazing tech leads and a great team. This isn’t about me, we work around team dynamics. I think here we’re a good mix and my management style is pretty hands-off compared to the average game producer. I guess that’s because my belief is in Agile development and empowerment, motivation and team ownership. I’m not trying to be the Creative Director or the Lead Programmer, I trust them for their roles and we build this on mutual trust. In fact, I’m just a pretty face, pointing in a direction, trying to make sure we march in the same direction. I also happen to be a later stage Producer so it’s actually good timing for me to apply some of my experience. In the end, only time will tell. Either our worst nightmares come true, or our wildest dreams. This being an Eternal Crusade, I can safely say there will be a little bit of both. MMORPG.com: Do you feel the game needs a course correction or have you come aboard to stay the course? Nathan: I’m here to stay the course. We will always do course corrections, that’s fundamental to Agile and iterative development. If we didn’t do that, be it due to customer feedback or some game system just turns out to be spawn from the warp, we’d be doing something wrong and pretty much assure our mutual destruction. But we’re transparent about it and we will be shedding light on the updated roadmaps in the coming months. So no, I’m not here to change the course. The purpose is to launch an amazing 40K experience. Nothing else. MMORPG.com: How far along in the development process do you believe Eternal Crusade is? Nathan: That’s part of the work we’re going through right now with me arriving and the planning workshops we’re doing with the entire team. I’d say we’re in good shape to do some meaningful deliveries this year but it really depends of how far into the full future vision we go before we determine we’re ready to launch. MMORPG.com: What is your favorite feature of the game so far? Nathan: I’d say it’s an Assault Marine with a chainsword descending like an angel of death on you and offering you salvation. We’re all in this for world peace, right? MMORPG.com: Do you plan on joining the team on the regular developer live streams? Nathan: Yes, I won’t make all of them but I’ll be on most, also writing newsletters to, blogging and you know, in on some general shenanigans which goes with a healthy game development teams. I have already started trolling the forums, so you can take a whack at me there. I’m known as Oveur, same I used on all of the games I’ve had the pleasure to work on. MMORPG.com: What is your favorite 40k race in our out of the game? Nathan: While I am a hardcore loyalist Space Marine, I do have a darker side to me which will remain secret. I also like cannon fodder, such as Astra Militarum but Blood Angels it is, first and foremost. MMORPG.com: Any last words before we let you get back to your day?
