The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed Meng as a Chinese citizen on Friday, dispelling suspicions over Meng's citizenship. "China provided Meng Wanzhou with consular assistance and demanded her immediate release. China has made its stance clear, demanding an immediate clarification of the reasons for detention," said spokesperson Geng Shuang. Huawei is one of the largest telecommunications equipment and services providers in the world.
