◆DIRK~~翻译◆Why Dirk Nowitzki may opt out: He wants Maverick Why Dirk Nowitzki may opt out: He wants Mavericks to win now    Posted at 9:37 AM on Mon., May. 24, 2010 | Permalink | Yahoo! Buzz Eddie Sefko / Reporter      Bio |    E-mail   |   News tips   One thing we know about Dirk Nowitzki for sure is that when he says something, he'll follow through on it. Way back in the week before Christmas, 2008, the Mavericks had just completed an east-coast road trip, on which Nowitzki sat in an empty practice gym in Washington and said the following: "Every team is trying to be a player in 2010,'' he said. "Every team is trying to clear money under the cap so they can make a move. "I'm very fortunate that I've made a lot of money in this league, even though I've never really played for money. I love the sport. I love this organization. Obviously, I want to win. I won the MVP, and individually, there's nothing really left but winning a championship. "If that means I have to play for less money, it's all possible. It's all open.'' Those comments appeared in The Dallas Morning News on Dec. 23. Over the weekend, news broke that Nowitzki will, apparently, opt out of his deal to help secure a new contract for himself and allow owner Mark Cuban some financial flexibility to try to pursue a big fish in the free agent pool. Just thought it was worth a reminder that this has been on Nowitzki's radar for a long, long time. It's also noteworthy that, at the time, he also said this: "That's still a long time away. Nobody's talked to me about extending or anything like that. I never really thought about it because we're in the midst of figuring this thing out. "I've got two years and I don't want to throw these next two years away and say basically we're waiting on 2010 to get another player in. That's not how I want to look at these next two years. I still feel I'm in my prime and I don't want to just throw these next two years away.'' Well, in the big scheme of things, consider them thrown away. --Eddie Sefko
◆DIRK~~翻译◆If Mavs want a shot at LeBron James, it's time t 听取了晓风的建议,以后我会不定期的翻译些官网,晨报的新闻,本人初次翻译,大家凑合着看哦,O(∩_∩)O~ If Mavs want a shot at LeBron James, it's time to say 'Go Celtics' 11:35 PM CDT on Thursday, May 6, 2010 reporter:Eddie Sefko While wondering what Chris Bosh’s peeps are advising him about free agency, it became evident recently that Mavericks fans who would love to see the home-grown product back in town might want to dream bigger. If you hadn’t noticed, the Cleveland Cavaliers are tied after two games of their series against the Celtics, with the East semifinal resuming tonight in Boston. As one league insider mentioned Thursday, if the Cavaliers go down this early in the playoffs, it could get “very, very, very interesting.’’ In other words, LeBron James will have some deep, deep, deep thinking and decision-making to do. So what does that mean to the Mavericks, you ask? Consider this. The prevailing wisdom is that if James and the Cavs win the championship this season, it’s a virtual certainty that James would re-sign with Cleveland. If, however, the Cavaliers are sunk in the second round, there would be considerably bigger chances that he would exit Ohio. Now you can debate where the Mavericks’ odds would rate in the LeBron Derby, but the key fact is this: Whether that’s a 1-percent chance, a 10-percent chance or any other chance, a remote possibility that LeBron ends up a Maverick is better than no chance at all. Plus think of all the great barstool talk it would generate for the next couple months. Which is why Maverick fans should be Celtic fans starting Friday night. Perhaps James is a pipe dream. But the Mavericks are going to have to get creative and lucky all at once this summer to get any of the marquee free agents. You can come up with tons of better reasons why Bosh, James, Dwyane Wade and Joe Johnson should go anywhere but Dallas. But with Erick Dampier’s $13-million expiring contract – free money to any cash-strapped team looking to dump salary – and enticing, expiring contracts for Caron Butler and J.J. Barea, stranger things have happened. Bosh, on the other hand, would seem to be a natural fit in Dallas, but don’t hold your breath. He made his social-network solicitation last week, asking friends, who surely would have his best interests at heart, about whether he should leave Toronto or not. Sorry, not a Twitter fan. Would rather wait for the next big thing to come along in a week or so. But just about everybody is a Bosh fan. Unfortunately, the hometown card might actually work against the Mavericks. As people in Toronto have mentioned in the past, Bosh doesn’t necessarily view playing in Dallas as all positive and no negative. You’ve heard the saying about wanting to be close to home, but not TOO close to home. That would explain those Houston rumors regarding Bosh that popped up last week. And by the way, if you’re looking at it that way, wouldn’t Oklahoma City be a better option. The Thunder could use Jeff Green and either James Harden or Eric Maynor as sign-and-trade bait. Plus they have a covey of expiring contracts to make the numbers work. Or they could simply sign him as a free agent with all that cash they have under the salary cap. Bosh, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook? If that’s not a championship nucleus for years to come, what is? If that’s what the Mavericks are up against, the odds really are stacked high against them, regardless of whether you’re talking about Bosh, James, Wade or whoever.
